Teaching Experiences:

I am currently a Reading Specialist that works with students with grades Kindergarten through second. My teaching experiences include: being a prekindergarten teacher for 6 years, Reading Specialist for 12 years. I have also worked with third graders as a reading specialist. In addition to teaching I have also worked as a storyteller and story time coordinator for my local public library.

School Library Media Specialist (in training):

At this time I'm in the process of studying to become a school library media specialist. I am in the process of completing my final year School Library and Information Technology program at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Learning to be a school librarian is one of the most exciting adventures that I have ever taken in my educational career! I absolutely love it and can't wait to spend my days in the library!

Personal Information:

I have been married for 15 years. I have two beautiful children: Sienna, who is ten years-old and Sarah who is eight years-old. I have five pets: 1 dog, 3 cats and a guinea pig. I love to spend time with my family, read, write, do storytelling, create scrapbooks and journals, experiment with creating collage items, cook, bake, take walks, and travel

One of my most favorite things to do is to read and collect poetry and create fun and interesting ways to bring people and poems together! Of course, reading and reciting poems are a perfect way to do this but my passion is to bring them to life through: drama, art, props, puppets, crafts, mystery and even food! I love to share poems with others and hopefully spark their interest in poetry and generate the joy of the spoken and written word! So, here, in "A Pocketful of Poems" I share with all of you my passion for poetry!

“Read to Me”
by Jane Yolen

Read to me riddles and read to me rhymes!
Read to me stories of magical times.
Read to me tales about castles and kings.
Read to me stories of fabulous things!
Read to me pirates and read to me knights.
Read to me dragons and dragon-book fights!
Read to me spaceships and cowboys and then,
When you’re finished…
Read them again!
